Session Five: Radiating Success (April 5, 2025)
Hosted by the CA FFA State Treasurer, State Secretary, and State President
Keynote Speaker: Fiona Ma, California State Treasurer
Session Five of the California FFA State Leadership Conference radiated energy and celebrated excellence. With 6,789 members and guests in attendance, the pre-session kicked off with a dynamic talent showcase, a “Teach Ag” spotlight emphasizing the impact of agricultural education, and high-energy beats courtesy of DJ FFA.
The session, themed Radiating Success, was led by session chairs Melissa Lua Duarte, Gianna Gonzalez, and Camille Zavala—affectionately known as the “Power Puff Trio.” Their leadership set the tone for a session full of celebration and meaningful reflection.
One highlight of the morning was the recognition of California’s Spanish Creed, officially adopted in 2021, followed by honors for winners in both the Azul and Oro divisions.
Keynote speaker Fiona Ma, California State Treasurer, delivered an inspiring message, emphasizing unity, resilience, and California’s global impact,, “We are stronger together,” and “If you want to achieve the American Dream, you can do it here in California.”
The session continued with recognition of outstanding members earning proficiency awards across a wide range of agricultural pathways—from dairy production to environmental science to equine science and beyond.
A deeply heartfelt portion of the session centered around mentorship. Each officer took a moment to honor the people who helped shape their journey.
The session closed with a powerful retiring address by State Vice President John Dein. In his speech, Worth It, John reflected on his leadership journey, his chapter—Turlock Christian FFA—and the mentors who helped him grow. Introduced by three of his closest peers and honored by his teammates, John reminded the audience that with faith and support, every challenge becomes part of a worthwhile story.
Session Five wrapped with the official FFA closing ceremonies and the announcement of the final 12 state officer candidates, bringing to a close another unforgettable chapter in the conference experience.
