RECAP: Closing Session State FFA Leadership Conference

Closing Session: Forge Your Future (April 6, 2025)

Hosted by the CA FFA State Secretary and State Sentinel

Special Remarks: Hugh Mooney, Assistant State FFA Advisor

The final session of the 2025 California FFA State Leadership Conference, Forge Your Future, brought a powerful close to a weekend filled with inspiration, celebration, and leadership. With 722 voting delegates and more than 7,554 members in attendance, energy ran high with regional chants, DJ FFA, and a crowd-favorite dance cam.

Chaired by Gianna Gonzalez (State Secretary) and Joshua Wolford (State Sentinel), the session celebrated major milestones. The State Star Award winners in Agriscience, Agribusiness, Placement, and Star Farmer were spotlighted through moving videos that captured their unique journeys.

Recognition was given to press corps members, 10 state ambassadors, the 12-member nominating committee chaired by past state officer Sierra Short, and the regional presidents serving on the State Executive Committee.

Members witnessed final interviews from officer candidates, a special “State FFA Encore” moment highlighting the lasting impact of FFA, and a performance by the FFA Talent Show winners singing “All of Me” by John Legend.

A heartfelt tribute honored retiring State FFA Advisor Charles Parker with a Hall of Fame award, celebrating 45 years of service. Jill Sperling was introduced as the new State FFA Advisor.

Hugh Mooney, Assistant State FFA Advisor, shared personal reflections and thanked the outgoing state officer team.

The session culminated in the announcement and installation of the 2025–2026 California FFA State Officer Team:

  • President: Lily Vaughan, Oroville-Las Plumas FFA

  • Vice President: Noah Stansai, Temecula-St. Jeanne Catholic FFA

  • Secretary: Ryan Taylor, Kelseyville FFA

  • Treasurer: Daren Deftereos, Hanford FFA

  • Reporter: Tessa Camacho, O'neals Minarets FFA

  • Sentinel: Sophia Camou, Bakersfield-Garces Memorial FFA
