SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Future Farmers of America (FFA) members and supporters from across the state of California returned to the Golden 1 Center for the second session of the 96th State FFA Leadership Conference in Sacramento with “Cosemic Connections” as a session theme.
New and reinstated chapters were recognized during this session. California FFA welcomed the Quincy, Chico-Pleasant Valley, and Venice chapters back into the association and introduced San Luis Obispo-Mission College Prep, Eureka-Northern Humboldt Charter School, Palo Cedro-Redding Christian, Bakersfield-Edison Middle School, and Sequoia Union Elementary chapters to the organization.
The audience also heard the encouraging words of National FFA Western Region Vice President, Emily Gossett, who inspired members to embrace kindness, bravery, and grace.
Regional Star Administrator, Star Counselor, and Star Supporting Staff winners were recognized on stage, with winners selected. Congratulations to the following state winners:
● State Star Administrator, Neil Stinson, Nicolaus-East Nicolaus
● Star Counselor, Peria Rabena, Arbuckle-Pierce
● State Star Supporting Staff, Amanda Shoffner, Clovis-East
Star Reporter, Web Page, National Chapter Award, and 5k award were also handed out. The winners are as follows:
● Star Reporter: Peyton Deuel, Galt-Liberty Ranch FFA
● Web Page Award: La Habra FFA
● National Chapter Award: Visalia-VTEC FFA
● 5k Award: Madera FFA
The top five Novice and Advanced Parliamentary Procedure teams were recognized on stage. The champion teams are as follows:
● Novice Parliamentary Procedure: O’Neals Minarets FFA
● Advanced Parliamentary Procedure: Galt-Liberty Ranch FFA
Lastly, Thomas Rosa, State FFA Sentinel, gave his retiring address titled, “Live Vividly.” Rosa urged members to practice gratitude and appreciate life for all it has to offer. “To live vividly is to stop, take a look around, and recognize what is happening at this moment,” Rosa said. “These moments are incredible, and if you blink, you miss them.”
The third session of the 96th State FFA Leadership Conference will be held at the Golden 1 Center this afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
