The 2024–2025 California FFA State Officer Team spent the past year traveling the state, visiting chapters, advocating for agricultural education, and helping students grow as leaders. Their service has made a lasting impact on thousands of members, and during the State Leadership Conference, each officer had the opportunity to share their retiring address—a personal reflection on the journey, lessons learned, and gratitude for those who helped along the way.
Session Two
Joshua Wolford, State Sentinel – "You vs. You"
Joshua opened his heart onstage, sharing a deeply personal journey of overcoming self-doubt and self-destruction. His address challenged members to face the toughest competitor they’ll ever meet—themselves. Through resilience and reflection, Joshua reminded us that our mindset can either hold us back or propel us forward. “You don’t have to fight alone,” he said, urging members to lean on their community and never stop striving for growth, even when it’s hard.
Session Three
Melissa Lua Duarte, State Treasurer – "Love Yours"
“No life is better than the one you have now,” Melissa told the crowd, echoing the theme of self-acceptance and gratitude. She reflected on the strength she’s drawn from her family, especially her mom, and the beauty in embracing where you come from. Her performance of a song in Spanish paid tribute to her roots and served as a powerful reminder to honor your identity. Melissa encouraged members to live boldly and embrace the next 30 seconds of courage that can change their future forever.
Session Four
Gianna Gonzalez, State Secretary – "Beyond the Bubble"
Gianna’s retiring address explored her journey of living with anxiety and the growth she experienced while stepping outside her comfort zone. She painted a picture of her transformation from someone who once feared change to someone who found confidence and connection in FFA. Her powerful message, “You won’t know who you’ll meet until you take your very first step beyond the bubble,” resonated with many. Gianna’s honesty, warmth, and message of belonging reminded members that growth often comes when we’re brave enough to take that first step.
Session Five
John Dein, State Vice President – "Worth It"
John spoke with sincerity and strength, reflecting on the trials and triumphs of his FFA journey. Backed by his chapter, mentors, and peers, he emphasized the value of perseverance and faith. His message to members: every struggle, every moment of fear or failure, becomes worth it when we remember our purpose and who we’re doing it for. John’s story was a heartfelt reminder that we are never alone—and the support of our community can carry us through anything.
Session Six
Camille Zavala, State President – "Turning the Page"
In a deeply moving address, Camille reflected on her love for journaling and the unexpected pause she took when she joined FFA. That pause ended when a close friend gifted her a new journal—symbolizing a new chapter in her life. She opened up about her self-doubt on the day she was elected, asking herself, “Are they sure? Are you sure?” Yet, through the stories and trust shared by FFA members across the state, she rediscovered her voice. Camille closed with a message of gratitude and grace, saying, “As I flip through these pages, the only thing that feels right to say is thank you.”
